Current research focus is in building tolerant and robust AI systems that can evolve cost-effectively. Over two decades of experience spanning both industry and academia with scholarly and experientially gained skills in artificial intelligence and complex software systems design. Translational work spans building intelligent homes for elderly, reducing traffic congestion, supporting decision making in safety-critical contexts, using gamification to improve dementia care, personalised education, and detecting spam and malware. Head of translational research at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute, Deakin University.
