RE@Next! PapersRequirements Engineering 2023
The 31st IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference (RE’23) will host the track RE@Next! to present in-progress research.
The RE@Next! track is a venue to present ongoing work that has generated early or preliminary results. The goal is to trigger new collaborations with like-minded colleagues and potential industrial partners and to receive early feedback which can help you to submit a full research paper to next year’s RE conference.

RE@Next! Call for Papers
For RE@Next! 2023, we are particularly excited to receive submissions addressing our theme for the conference “Redefining RE”: Challenging RE Perceptions, Boundaries, and Topics (see main CfP).
A good RE@Next! contribution will:
- provide in succinct form the information that you would convey in a seminar about your ongoing research work to a fellow academic visiting your department;
- compare your novel idea to existing work and clearly show how your ongoing work is going to extend the state-of-the-art;
- include the targeted research questions and the research methodology you propose to address them;
- show the feasibility of your work by presenting preliminary results, such as a convincing review of well-established prior work, a pilot study based on a reasonably sophisticated example problem, or early results from an exploratory qualitative or quantitative study;
- present the long-term directions and prospects of your research endeavour.
Each submission will be rigorously reviewed by the RE@Next! Program Committee, following a double-blind review format. Evaluation criteria include clarity of the submission, comparison to the state-of-the-art, expected interest to the conference attendees, as well as novelty and feasibility of the idea.
The authors of accepted papers will have the opportunity to increase the visibility of their artifacts (software and data) and to obtain an artifact badge. Upon acceptance, the authors can submit their artifacts, which will be evaluated by a committee that determines their sustained availability and reusability.
Accepted papers will also be assigned a discussant who will engage with the presenting author directly after the presentation.
Submission Instructions
All authors who intend to submit a paper must first submit the title, abstract (max. 200 words) and author information. Abstracts are used only to point out your interest to submit a paper and to allow the track co-chairs to match with the committee members early in time.
An abstract submission must be followed by a full paper submission.
Papers must describe original work that has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Papers must have between 4 and 6 pages, including references. Submissions must be written in English and formatted according to the IEEE formatting instructions. Submissions must be double-blinded in conformance with the instructions described in the research track. Submissions that do not respect these constraints will be rejected without review.
Accepted papers may require editing for clarity prior to publication and presentation. They will appear in the IEEE Digital Library.
At least one author of each accepted paper must register to and attend the conference in order to present their paper.
